From Consultation to Completion: The Veneer Process

Composite veneers are a popular cosmetic dentistry procedure which involves putting a thin resin-based veneer over the front of teeth to improve their appearance.

This blog will guide you through the veneer procedure, from initial consultation to post-treatment care. We aim to provide you with all the information about the process to enable you to decide whether veneers are the right choice for you.

Initial Consultation

During the initial consultation, patients have the opportunity to discuss their smile aspirations and reasons for wanting veneers while also addressing any concerns with a cosmetic dentistry professional. During the consultation, the dentist will also assess the patient’s teeth and gum health and determine their suitability for veneers or alternative forms of cosmetic dentistry. This assessment will also provide the dentist with a basis for a price estimate and a timeline for completion.

Treatment Planning and Veneer Design

Once the patient has been approved for composite veneers, the dentist will take digital scans of your teeth to begin the treatment plan and veneer design. The dentist will design the veneers based on the patient’s requirements regarding the shape, size and shade of teeth.

Sophisticated digital smile design technology is used to generate an image of the composite veneers, ensuring the patient is happy with the design before sending it off to a dentistry laboratory for fabrication.

Tooth Preparation

To prepare the teeth for veneer fitting, a small layer of the enamel is removed to ensure the composite veneers fit on the teeth seamlessly. A local anaesthetic will be used to guarantee a pain-free procedure. While the composite veneers are being manufactured, a set of temporary veneers may be fitted to protect the exposed enamel.

Final Placement and Bonding

Once the composite veneers have been created, the patient will return to the dental clinic for the final fitting and sealing of the veneers. Each veneer is fitted to the teeth individually, with careful attention to alignment for a uniform appearance. A dental adhesive, cured under UV light, is used to securely bond the veneer to the tooth.

Post-Treatment Care

Once the composite veneers have been installed, the dentist will inform the patient of all the post-treatment care requirements and guidelines to maximise longevity. Maintenance plans will likely include a detailed oral care plan to ensure veneers maintain optimal hygiene, a list of foods to avoid and a recommended checkup and professional cleaning schedule.

He also couldn’t do his job without His nurse Amy who is highly skilled, lighthearted and makes you feel at ease. Iv got no bad things to say and I have been a patient for years. After some chair investigation and an additional CT scan it was revealed I didn't need it. Had some other work done instead to replace the filling and protect the root nerve. All pain free. Nihad and Amy were both lovely and professional. Highly recommended.
